I recently attended a class on Building Technology for continuing education. Most of the class was devoted to discussing the Building Envelope--the outer surface of the building--in this case, the home. One of the challenges for every homeowner is keeping the moisture levels at the optimum level inside their home, keeping pests and rodents out, and utility costs at a manageable level.
