Homebuying Preferences

Realtor Magazine recently published results from a recent survey by the National Association of Realtors. The 2007 Profile of Buyers' Home Feature Preferences looked at what homebuyers thought was most important in purchasing their homes.

The top ten most desired home features included: central air conditioning, oversize garage, walk-in closet in master bedroom, backyard/play area, cable/satellite TV-ready, high-speed internet access, separate showers in main bath, patio and fencing.

Today's buyers are more tech-saavy as shown in the importance of high-speed internet access and cable/satellite readiness in homes. 46% of buyers desire cable/satellite TV.

They are also looking for more "luxury" items like walk-in closets and separate showers. 60% of buyers were willing to pay a premium for a walk-in closet in the master, 57% were willing to pay for hardwood floors and 56% were willing to pay for granite countertops.
