Barbie's Dream House

When I was younger, I had a Barbie Dream House. It was pretty much the coolest thing a girl could ask for--four floors with an elevator, pool and hot tub, and pink furniture in every room. I knew someday I wanted a house just like Barbie's, including the pink furniture! But, now that I am all grown up, I have a new idea of my dream home.

It's important for you to know what you want in a house, too! After getting your finances around, sit down and make a list of everything you want in a house. For the most part, keep your list realistic (based on the price you can afford) but don't be afraid to add some dream elements to list as well. You could be surprised what a house in your price range might offer. Then, take your list and make notes of which elements are absolute priorities and which ones you are willing to compromise on. For example, we absolutely had to have a garage and three bedrooms, but were willing to compromise on the number of bathrooms.

If you have a good idea of what you are looking for, it will make your search less stressful and less overwhelming. We don't have our dream house yet, but we have a house we are comfortable in and have a goal to shoot for when we buy our next house. And while I don't have any pink furniture, I do have a pink bathroom, which is a good start :)
